Sweet Caroline

When I heard the news that Ms. Caroline, an orphan of John F. Kennedy, was selected to be the next US ambassador to Japan. It was Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline" that drifted into my head repeatedly and it was stuck in my head. Today, I found out that this number actually sung about this Caroline. I am feeling strange now.

In 1969, I was still in junior high and crazy about the hit chart program on the AM radio. Listening 'the Beatles' in the later years, 'Elton John' was just making his debut, 'Led Zeppelin' as well. 'Diana Ross' was still with 'Supremes', the blind Boy Wonder 'Stevie Wonder'. 'Edison Lighthouse' who specialized in single hits, and 'Flyingmachine'. Furthermore, 'Julia Dream' of 'Pink Floyd'. Was there any other time when a Hit Chart, that represented on Billboard, was happy in this way?

At such a time, Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline" rose to higher rank on the chart. 'Elvis Presley' covered it in his movie right after that. I liked Elvis' live version as well which contained his dance actions.

Postscript:
Frankly speaking, I would like to mention my opinions about the things what the United States have done, is doing, and is willing to do. However, the part of which I love, above all, in particular, is the music. We are devoted to their music more than the Americans think and feel respect for the background, the soil which produced them.
I hope she could hear the voices of Japan, especially in Okinawa.
